Circuit Overview

Clark International Speedway stands as the Philippines' premier motorsport destination, nestled within the prestigious Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga. This FIA Grade 4-certified circuit opened its doors on November 15, 2008, initially launching with drag strip operations before undergoing strategic phased expansion into today's world-class 2.603 miles / 4.189 km facility.

The track features an 18-turn counter-clockwise configuration with a unique design that allows it to split into separate sections for simultaneous racing events.

Home to prestigious competitions including the Philippine Superbike Championship, Toyota Vios Cup, and Formula 4 South East Asia Championship, Clark International Speedway represents the pinnacle of Southeast Asian motorsport through its innovative phased construction approach that transformed a simple drag strip into the region's most versatile racing complex.

Circuit History

The vision for Clark International Speedway emerged in the mid-2000s when Levy Laus, president and CEO of Clark Development Corp. (CDC), envisaged Clark becoming home to world-class racing events. In 2006, Laus partnered with Kilton Motor Corp. (KMC), the Philippines' leading racetrack developer, to bring this ambitious project to life. The development formed part of a broader initiative to establish the Clark area as a premier sports-tourism destination, strategically positioned to complement the region's growing role as a logistics hub centreed around Clark International Airport.

Construction commenced in 2007, with the facility celebrating its official opening on November 15, 2008. The inaugural phase featured exclusively drag strip operations, representing a shrewd business strategy that allowed CIS to generate revenue while simultaneously funding the continued development of the road course sections. This phased approach enabled immediate motorsport activities and helped establish the venue's credibility within the Philippine racing community.

The first phase of construction, featuring a technical 11-turn layout concentrated within the site's western section, was completed in 2009. This initial road course proved ideal for touring cars, superbikes, and club racing events. Building on this success, developers subsequently extended the circuit eastward, incorporating high-speed elements and additional turns to create the comprehensive 18-turn configuration that now meets international racing standards.

The completed 2.603 miles / 4.189 km circuit showcases 18 turns in a counter-clockwise direction, with the unique capability to divide into two independent sections for simultaneous events. Clark International Speedway accommodates both two- and four-wheeled competition, hosting the Philippine Superbike Championship, Toyota Vios Cup, Philippine GT Championship, Philippine Touring Car Championship, and FlatOut Race Series. The facility also features a dedicated 1 km (0.62 mi) drag strip that serves as home to the National Drag Racing Championship.

Recognition though FIA certification

A pivotal moment arrived in 2012 when the Philippine Sports Commission and V8 Supercars CEO Martin Whitaker announced plans for the circuit to host a V8 Supercars round on November 10-11, 2012. Although series management ultimately never ratified the event and it failed to materialise on the official calendar, this announcement signalled that the international motorsport community had recognised the facility's potential.

The circuit achieved its breakthrough in 2016 by hosting the second round of the 2016-17 Formula 4 South East Asia Championship. This historic event marked the first motorsport competition at the venue to receive certification from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). This certification formally established the Philippines' presence on the international single-seater racing calendar and confirmed Clark's status as a legitimate venue for world-class motorsport competition.

Vibrant community hub develops

Throughout its evolution, Clark International Speedway has undergone continuous enhancements to meet rigorous international racing standards. The track's challenging layout, designed to test both novice drivers and seasoned professionals, has been refined through strategic modifications prioritising safety and competitive racing. Beyond the primary circuit, the facility boasts cutting-edge amenities including advanced pit facilities, spacious grandstands, and elevated viewing decks, ensuring an immersive experience for participants and spectators alike.

Today, Clark International Speedway exemplifies the Philippines' rising prominence within the Asian motorsport landscape. More than just a racing venue, it serves as a vibrant community hub where racers, enthusiasts, and families unite to celebrate motorsport passion. The facility also welcomes private events, exemplified by successful gatherings such as the California Superbike School Philippines 2025 Track Day, held in April 2025.
